Increasing crop diversity within an agricultural ecosystem can lead to greater resilience to extreme weather events.
The indicator reflects the number and varieties used in cultivation for the representative crop types wheat, potato, carrot, and apple at six time points over the past 100 years. For these selected crop types, the number of varieties is determined that together account for at least 80% of the cultivated area of the respective crop in the respective growing year.
