Fertilisation intensity Nutrient input

To achieve maximum yield, fertiliser application is optimized to cultivate tall and dense plant stands. The fertilisation intensity significantly affects nutrient load in agricultural landscapes and associated ecosystems. Habitat biodiversity is usually low in areas characterised by high fertilisation rates compared to regions with low fertilisation intensity. Fertilisation intensity can be calculated in two ways. First, the total intensity can be calculated, and second, the intensity can be differentiated into mineral and organic fertilisation, including digestate. The indicator is based on the mean value of total input calculated over a period of three years (currently 2020 to 2022).
