The indicator refers to hedgerows, tree lines, and individual woody plants or trees. These objects are represented as linear or point features in digital land cover models. LiDAR sensors can be used to capture the three-dimensional characteristics of these objects. Vegetation metrics are derived from the three-dimensional model to describe the properties of the wLFs. The indicator presented here comprises three sub-indicators describing the
(1) mean width,
(2) maximum height and
(3) volume of the objects within a reference area (e.g. 100-ha hexagons).
