Indicator bee biomass Pan Trap Monitoring of Bee Communities

The biomass of bees captured using pan traps represents an estimate of bee activity density at an agricultural site. This indicator thus indirectly reflects the potential pollination performance of bees. The bee biomass is determined using laboratory scales after separating the bees from bycatch. Surveys of local flowering plants and the use of repeated pan trap sets at the site are important to assess potential biases in the determined biomass.
